Sew or strip (!) for Hogs

Our hedgehogs' bedding is the key to keeping them warm and dry during their stay with us. We need your help to give them the best bedding we can - whether you sew or want to be one of our strippers! So here is a little challenge....

If you sew, do you fancy making a few hedgehog snuggle bags? These fleecy mini sleeping bags are essential kit for a recuperating hedgehog. Every hog who stays with us gets one. At the moment we are particularly short of larger bags and would really appreciate your help in keeping our stocks up. The measurements for the larger snuggle bags are between 10"-12" wide (the top edge where the opening is), by 9"-10" deep. This is a good size for sibling hoglets and larger hogs. Firmish fleece materials are best as the opening to the bag stays open better, and they dry quicker in the winter months when we can't hang them on the washing line. There are quite a few short tutorials on YouTube such as this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IWcA7kDJnE - and this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvNNsLz5I4Q These are really useful but please remember that the dimensions above work best for us. If you would like to take part in this particular sewing challenge, it would be great if you could drop finished bags at the Rescue or, preferably, send them to our registered address, which is 1 New Street, Langcliffe, Settle, North Yorkshire, BD24 9ND.
Or maybe you fancy being a stripper instead?! Every hedgehog, every day, gets clean strips of newspaper into their snuggle bag and their cage. It's perfect for making a bed with. All of the paper we used has to be stripped (or shredded) by hand. We can't use the machine-shredded stuff as the edges are just too sharp. So, by hand it is! We spend hours upon hours stripping newspaper by hand and if you could spend just a bit of time helping us with this, it would be much appreciated! (Oh, and please remove all staples to avoid hedghog injury. Strips that are approximately a finger wide are the best.)
